Inserting Special Characters



Linux


Select Linux Menu->Accessories->Character MapClick on the special characters which adds them to a text box in the special characters dialog.  When selection of the needed characters is complete, press the Copy button.  Move the mouse to the desired Caret text box.  Use either  CTRL-V or press the right mouse button and from the popup menu choose Paste.


Mac OSX


Installing the input menu in the Mac OSX menu bar

The input menu appear as an icon, such as an American flag, in the Mac OSX toolbar.  If it is not present do the following:
Start System Preferences, click the International icon, click Input Menu, click the checkboxes next to Character Palette and Show Input Menu in Menu Bar so that they are checked.

Adding Special Characters

Click on the Input menu at the right side of the Menubar.  From it, select Show Character PaletteSelect the desired character and drag it into the Caret text box.


Microsoft Windows


Select Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map.  To add characters into the Characters to copy text box, click the desired character and press the Select button.  Once the desired characters have been selected, press the Copy button.  Move the mouse to the desired Caret text box.  Use either  CTRL-V or press the right mouse button and from the popup menu choose Paste.
